The Villain and the Cannon Fodder’s Mother

Chapter 21: The most important thing was that the public's opinion of Lin Yiyi was already at the bottom and couldn't get any worse (3)

Anyways, their family had money, and Lin Yiyi had her as a mother. Even if her daughter had regrets in the future, she would still have options available to her. If her daughter needed her help, she would unhesitantly step forward.

But, it was totally against her expectations that her daughter would attempt suicide without saying a word.

Lin Ping was silent for a moment. She inwardly sighed and pretended to believe her daughter’s rubbish words. “Alright, you’re already in your thirties. I can’t control what you do. Little Yuran and Shanshan are still young. Before you do anything rashly, think about them first. Don’t be so negligent as a mother. Once they grow up, it’ll be too late if you have regrets. They won’t listen to you then.”

There were plenty of good men available. It wouldn’t be a big deal for her to arrange a few blind dates for her daughter when she came back from abroad. Lin Yiyi was her precious daughter. If she did badly, she might even have to rely on her in the latter part of her life.

Soon after, Lin Ping’s words took a turn, “Oh, yeah, why did you tell Little Wang to take a vacation? I also heard from Little Chen that you’ve been cooking all of the meals for the past few days.”

Although the empress dowager wasn’t home, she had eyes everywhere to report to her!

Lin Yiyi’s heart trembled a bit.

A parent’s behavior affected their children, so of course, Lin Ping had a very good understanding of her daughter’s conduct.

Just by looking at her daughter’s past Weibo posts, she could guess that her daughter was worlds apart from someone that would do something as simple as simmering soup. The idea that her daughter would wholeheartedly spend time in the kitchen was verging on preposterousness.

Fortunately, the driver and other servants weren’t familiar with the original Lin Yiyi, the two children were too young to know better, and Lin Ping and her husband lived abroad and didn’t come back here unless there was a good reason. Thus, Lin Yiyi was free to do whatever she wanted.

Lin Yiyi was worried about exposing her secret. The more she spoke, the more likely she would say something out-of-character. She vaguely said, “I’ve been bored lately, so I downloaded some cooking tutorials and tried making a few dishes. Little Yuran and Shanshan both like my cooking, so I just decide to keep cooking.”

After hearing this explanation, Lin Ping thought her daughter had just taken up a new hobby because of her recent shock. “Oh.”

Right at the end of the conversation, Lin Ping decided to inform her daughter, “Old Gu and I have decided to come back for a few days. I’ll let you know once we settled on a date.”

“Okay, I’ll go to the airport to pick the two of you up when the time comes.”

Fortunately, only a few close people knew that Lin Yiyi had tried to commit suicide. If any outsiders found out, there would probably be a torrential wave of negative comments online…

The most important thing was that the public’s opinion of Lin Yiyi was already at the bottom and couldn’t get any worse. Regardless of the reason or event, as long as it had the slightest connection to her, the public would always attack her with nasty comments and feel as if they were the ones on the high moral ground!

The author has something to say: This story does have a male lead, but he won’t be appearing anytime soon. The ex-husband isn’t the male lead. Please don’t make the mistake of rooting for him. (Although, I guess that no one would want to root for him anyways. Haha.)
